Protecting Natural Resources

Protecting Loreto’s environmental resources is of utmost importance to us, our donors, and future generations.

Programs

Recycling

With help from donors like you, Keep Loreto Magical will continue to support Loreto’s local recycling services for cardboard, paper, glass and certain types of plastic bottles.

Mining Pollution

Loreto is facing a risk from mining operators who want to exploit the lands within the San Javier region for gold, silver and copper. Of equal concern is the potential movement of heavy metals from the mining sludge found on the beaches of Santa Rosalia, 92 miles north.

Research

Water & Sewage

As noted in our Newsletter, The Ocean Foundation, with help from Keep Loreto Magical, continues to investigate and monitor Loreto’s water resources, and its infrastructure for drinking water delivery and waste management.
