In mid-April Tracy Collinridge, on the Facebook page “Voices of Loreto,” reached out to the community to join her in a food donation program for Loretanos. (See the April 21 story below.) Tracy’s idea could be put into practice quickly because of the groundwork already done by Cecilia Fischer, program manager for the Keep Loreto Magic Foundation. All the new program needed, at minimum, were reliable funding and a roster of volunteers.
Cecilia was already active in pandemic relief, having set to work as soon as the virus risk to the Baja peninsula had become clear. She had dedicated countless hours to public education communications in the municipality and hands-on volunteering in the hospital. An umbrella name for these efforts was provided by Erik Stevens, who called his 3-minute video documentation Keep Loreto Healthy.
Soon Tracy’s program idea had inspired a cascade of donations. From the “Voices of Loreto” readership the following donors stepped forward.
